Project Officer / Lab Manager (General)

Our lab is hiring a project officer to assist the PI in data collection, data analysis, preparation of manuscript and daily lab administration. The candidate should be university graduate in Psychology, Linguistics, Cognitive Science or related field, preferably has experience working in a research lab or in a clinical setting. The candidate has to be comfortable with computers and new softwares. Knowledge of SPSS, e-prime, word processing software, any programming language, operating an EEG/ERP machine is preferred. There will be opportunity for the candidate to learn and carry out independent research relevant to our funded research projects on speech and language development across lifespan. The position is for two years, and is renewable subject to mutual interest and funding availability. Salary rage for the position is $3,000–$3,400, plus annual performance bonus of 1 to 2 months of salary.

Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate

Our lab is hiring Postdoctoral Fellows and Research Associates (multiple positions) to work on the following funded projects:

  • Speech perception difficulty in the ageing population in Singapore,

  • Speech and language development in infants and toddlers, and

  • Cognitive neuroscience of speech and language

We welcome applicants with a Ph.D. in Psychology, Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Cognitive Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Audiology, etc. to apply for the Postdoctoral Fellow position. Master's degree holders with relevant experience and interested in further study are also welcomed to join us as a Research Associate.

Candidates should have experience in designing and running behavioural experiments. Experience in brain imaging methods such as EEG/ERP, fMRI study will be an advantage. Candidates with a strong quantitative mindset are preferred. Experience in interacting with infants, toddlers and older research participants will be an advantage as well. The successful applicant will be working closely with the PI and will also be assigned to supervise Student Research Assistants and Final Year Project students.

The positions are for two years, available from Feb 2018 (negotiable, subject to funding availability), renewable subject to performance. Salary rage for the Postdoctoral Fellow is $4,500–$5,200 and for the Research Associate is $3,800–$4,500, plus annual performance bonus of 1 to 2 months of salary.

Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate / Project Officer (Audiologist)

Our lab is hiring an Audiologist for a speech and hearing project. The candidate should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Audiology that is recognised in Singapore. Work experience in Audiology is desirable but we also welcome fresh graduate to apply. Candidate with a Ph.D degree will be hired as a Postdoctoral Fellow.

Duties include: carrying out audiological assessment of patients, conducting survey on hearing abilities, facilitating an implementation of an audiological rehabilitation for hearing aids users. Our target patients are the Singaporean elderly who speaks Mandarin Chinese as their dominant language.

There will be opportunity for the candidate to learn and carry out independent research related to our interests. The position is for two years, and is renewable subject to mutual interest and funding availability. Ph.D. and MA in Linguistics / Cognitive Neuroscience / Communication Disorders

We are looking for highly talented and dedicated Ph.D. and MA students with different backgrounds, including Linguistics, Psychology, Engineering, Neuroscience, and health related disciplines. The candidate should be proficient in English and be able to work independently as well as in a team.

Areas of research

Our lab currently has a number of funded projects on speech and language development across lifespan, e.g. infants' and toddlers' language development; hearing disorders in older adults, neuroplasticity related to language acquisition etc.

Scholarship

Student Research Assistant (Part-time)

Our lab is hiring part-time student research assistants.

Job scope

  • Assist in data collection with behavioural experiments (including contacting participants, conducting experiments, etc.)

  • Other ad-hoc tasks such as graphic design, data entry

Requirement

  • Fluency in English and in Mandarin

  • Able to work independently and efficiently

Salary

  • Student RAs will be paid $10/hour
